About Wendy Bray
Wendy Bray is a communicator by both personality and profession. From an early age Wendy’s desire was to communicate: from her toddler ‘chatterbox’ reputation through her junior school report comments that ‘Wendy likes to organise the other children into small groups for plays…’ Wendy found an early training ground for speaking and presenting! At secondary school Wendy’s creative writing gained an eager-and often amused-audience amongst pupils and teachers.
Wendy began her own career in teaching and as her two children grew she developed her interests in writing, speaking and communication, working as a consultant, a staff writer for national charity ‘Care for the Family’, and latterly, freelance.
When she was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer in 1999 a new challenge presented itself. Her first book ,‘In the Palm of God’s Hand’ (2002/2007) documents that challenge in a bittersweet and often hilarious diary account of the first year of cancer treatment.
Wendy has since shared her story, encouragement and hope with thousands through speaking and writing.
Just after the ‘five year all clear’ point was marked in April 2005, Wendy was diagnosed with a completely unrelated breast cancer: “You just got unlucky” her consultant said.
Wendy subtley applies the unique survivorship perspective that her experience has given her to her writing, speaking and coaching. She believes that facing death helps us to live life, and that many survivors-of cancer or any life trauma-can discover that survivorship transforms the ordinary and offers them something unique to bring to life, work and relationships.
Wendy is currently working on her tenth book; developing her communications consultancy work and accepting speaking, training and coaching invitations.
